This week's contest was to make a cut-and-sew pattern, fitting on a fat quarter, that could be made into a pencil case. I decided to base mine on the design I made for last year's back-to-school theme - the
paper patchwork. The pattern is based on the one by Sew Mama Sew,
here. I thought it would be fun to put a school-desk-like wood background behind the instructions.
This came in 47 out of 81 with 96 votes. Most entries did a fairly plan rectangular shape, my favorites of which were this
very colorful one and this mellow
mail-themed roll-up case. As for cases that had more representational shapes, I liked the
cartoony cat (which won) and the calmer
chickadee roll.
